Jeremiah Barcus, cello
Cellist Jeremiah Barcus came to Boston in 2009 to study at the New England Conservatory with Yeesun Kim from the renowned Borromeo String Quartet. Since his arrival, Mr. Barcus has taken part in several chamber groups within a wide array of genres. He is the cellist in the Videri String Quartet, which combines the fun and joy of video game music with the regard and respect of a classical string quartet. With Videri, he has toured across the United States, giving concerts in Boston, New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, as well as being selected as a Fellowship Quartet at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. He has also recorded with the pop artists Will Knox and “Wakey, Wakey” at Flux Studios in New York City. Jeremiah won top prize in NEC’s John Hsu Cello Competition and received an Honorable Mention in Boston Conservatory’s Concerto Competition. He also holds the honor of winning the Boston Conservatory Chamber Series competition, allowing him to perform the Ravel Sonata for Violin and Cello with faculty member Lynn Chang. Jeremiah occasionally strays outside of the world of Chamber Music and performs in several Boston orchestras. He has been seen with Symphony By the Sea, Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, BoCoCelli, and often performs in the pit of award winning musicals at the Company Theater in Norwell, MA.
Jeremiah holds a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from New England Conservatory, a Master of Music in Cello Performance from the Boston Conservatory, as well as a Graduate Performance Diploma in Cello Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee as the Michael A. Alaura scholar.
